South of Nowhere was a television series created by Thomas W. Lynch and was primarily aimed at the teenage market. It first aired November 4, 2005 on The N. It’s final season aired October 2008 with the last episode on December 12, 2008. It also has live webisodes available for viewing.
This show is about several members of the Carlin Family who have moved from Ohio to Los Angeles, California. The story follows a questioning of sexual identify – Spencer questions her own sexuality after her close relationship with her gay friend Ashley Davies.
This was the first show on The N to deal with gays and lesbians and was the first ever television show with primary characters being gay teenagers.It also deals with racism, adoption, abortion, homophobia, drugs, drug dealing, teen pregnancy, death, hate crimes, teen drinking, infidelity, college, domestic violence, condoms, stepfamilies, peer pressure, sex, religion, and military – all very controversial and difficult topics to deal with!
